Everyday, a New Adventure
Remember what it was like when you were a kid and anything you imagined could become real? When what you could become was an endless, exciting tomorrow? Remember when you first saw a rocket, or a racecar, and you wanted to ride one? Or when you first saw a lion, or a skydiver, and you wanted to be one? Then you know exactly what it’s like to be Benjamin B.
Everyday Benjamin B. wakes up with something new that he’s crazy about. Some things, like cowboys, volcanoes, and horses actually exist. Others, like intergalactic spaceships, super heroes, and mutant dinosaurs with laser eyes exist only in flights of fiction. Fortunately, Benjamin B. has a great dad that helps him learn what’s what.
Benjamin’s adventures are highlighted with exciting musical shorts, as he and his father explore the wildest places of his imagination with the wonder of a child. These songs are playful, lively, and informative in a cool “School House Rock” way.
Every show begins with Benjamin’s latest obsession. Because he’s a kid, he doesn’t have all of the facts straight. He’s really bright, but his passion is way huger than his actual knowledge. He might think a firefighter can save a house by karate chopping the flames away, or that he could stop a tornado by running around it really fast in the opposite direction. As a song, it’s energetic and exciting, as well as being full of outlandish and silly ideas.
Then Benjamin’s Dad helps him learn about whatever he’s in to. For something straightforward, like a doctor, his Dad would help him understand what becoming and being a doctor amounts to. For something fantastical, like a space pirate bunny, his dad would help him understand the reality of space travel, pirates, and of course, bunnies. Benjamin’s Dad is really good about not bursting his son’s bubble. Anytime he teaches the truth behind Benjamin’s more out there fascinations or unrealistic assumptions, he always does so while understanding what Ben thinks is so awesome.
At the end of the day, when Benjamin is being tucked in, he and his Dad talk about all they learned. And, while Benjamin learned a lot, he still may have a few facts overshadowed by his sense of adventure. His Dad chimes in here and there to correct him, but only in a very kind-hearted way. As a song it would be a charming duet between a playful boy and his loving (and patient) father.
Aimed at exciting kids to the world around them and teaching them about it, Benjamin B. is unique in that it celebrates the childlike imagination. Embracing the real and the unreal. After all, almost everything we do and anything we make originally started as a dream in someone’s head.
